This week’s story did not come from a headline. It did not come from a viral clip.

It did not come from a news article.

It came from a hospital hallway, during a moment I will never forget.

I was in the hospital waiting for surgery, sitting with my laptop open, trying to keep my mind busy. Like many entrepreneurs, I was working even when life was telling me to slow down. I was writing the DuePro newsletter when one of the nurses walked by and noticed me typing.

She smiled and asked, “Are you working?”

I told her yes. She asked what I was working on.

I told her I was writing a newsletter for DuePro.

Then she asked the question I love getting asked:

“What is DuePro?”

So I explained it to her.

I told her DuePro is a free legal emergency response app built for moments when something goes wrong during a traffic stop, a police encounter, an immigration encounter, or any situation where someone may need their family or attorney notified fast.

I explained how, with one tap, DuePro can alert your emergency contacts, share your live location, start recording video and audio, and notify your attorney if you have one selected.

She stopped what she was doing.

She listened closely.

Then her face changed.

It was not just curiosity anymore.

It was recognition.

She understood the need immediately because she had lived through a moment where something like DuePro could have made a difference.

Then she started telling me her story.
